Bible Question

Is Once Saved Always Saved a Biblical Truth?

We get this question alot. Is once saved always saved a biblical truth? Once you are saved, are you saved forever? Will the Holy Spirit ever leave you once He comes to live inside you?

These questions arise because many Christians lack a full understanding of three key truths:

  1. We are more than just sinners in need of forgiveness; we are born spiritually dead and in need of life. How did this happen?
  • Adam was created in the image of God (Genesis 1:27).
  • Adam was alive both physically and spiritually (Genesis 2:7).
  • God commanded Adam not to eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil (Genesis 2:16-17).
  • Adam disobeyed, causing the Spirit of God to leave him and bringing condemnation upon all humanity. (Romans 5:15-20).
  • Adam lived  a total of 930 years. (Genesis 5:3-4).

Note: We are born in the image of Adam, spiritually dead and in need of life (Genesis 5:3; Romans 5:12; 1 Corinthians 15:22, 15:49; Ephesians 2:1).

2. God’s solution to humanity’s problem: God provides new life through the resurrected life of Jesus Christ.

Note: Here’s a suggested prayer for you to come alive in Christ and be born again: “If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” (Romans 10:9).

3. Once the Holy Spirit comes to live within you, God will never leave you.

Note: What is the only possible reason Jesus would ever leave you? Sin. Why is this an impossibility? Because Jesus took away all your sins (2 Corinthians 5:18-21; Hebrews 9:22, 9:28, Hebrews 10:1-18; 1 John 2:2). We call this divine logic!
