Bible Verses – Salvation Explained

We’re not just sinners—we’re born spiritually dead, cut off from God’s life. But through Christ, we can be made alive, filled with the Spirit, and restored to the purpose and relationship we were created for.

1. Introduction to Creation

  • God’s Image and Likeness:
    • “So God created man in his own image…” (Genesis 1:27)
    • This is the written account of Adam’s family line. When God created man, he made him in the likeness of God. (Genesis 5:1)
  • What is God like – What is His nature?:
    • God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth” (John 4:24).
    • Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. (1 Corinthians 3:17)

2. God’s Command to Adam

  • The Command:
    • “You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil or you will surely die” (Genesis 2:16-17)

3. The Fall

  • The Serpent’s Deception:
    • You will not surely die,” the serpent said to the woman (Genesis 3:4).
  • The Act of Disobedience:
    • “She took some and ate it; she also gave some to her husband, who was with her and he ate it” (Genesis 3:6)

4. Consequences of Sin

  • How did Adam Die?
    • “Altogether, Adam lived a total of 930 years, and then he died” (Genesis 5:5).
  • The Spirit of God Leaves Adam and He Dies Spiritually
    • “The man has now become like one of us, knowing good and evil. He must not be allowed to reach out his hand and take also from the tree of life and eat, and live forever.”” (Genesis 3:22-23)
    • In Adam all die, in Christ all will be made alive.” (1 Corinthians 15:22)
    • “Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all people, because all sinned—” (Romans 5:12) 
    • “As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins…” (Ephesians 2:1)
    • “When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made you alive with Christ. He forgave us all our sins.” (Colossians 2:13)
    • The person without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God but considers them foolishness, and cannot understand them because they are discerned only through the Spirit”. (1 Corinthians 2:14)
    • “Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life.” (1 John 5:12)

5. Adam’s Children and Their Condition

  • Born in Adam’s Image:
    • “When Adam had lived 130 years, he had a son in his own likeness…” (Genesis 5:3).
    • “And just as we have borne the image of the earthly man, so shall we bear the image of the heavenly man.” (1 Corinthians 15;49)

6. God’s Solution to Spiritual Death

  • Made Alive in Christ – New Life:
    • For just as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, even so the Son gives life to whom he is pleased to give it.” (John 5:21)
    • “I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” (John 10:10)
    • “Jesus said to her, ‘I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?’” (john 11:25-26)
    • “Very truly I tell you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be judged but has crossed over from death to life.” (John 5:24)
    • “We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.” (Romans 6:4)
    • “Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him. For we know that since Christ was raised from the dead, he cannot die again; death no longer has mastery over him.” (Romans 6:8-9)
    • “So, my brothers, you also died to the law through the body of Christ, that you might belong to another, to him who was raised from the dead, in order that we might bear fruit to God.” (Romans 7:4)
    • “And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of his Spirit who lives in you.” (Romans 8:11)
    • “That if you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” (Romans 10″9)
    • “God made you alive with Christ...” (Colossians 2:13).
    • “But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved. And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus.” (Ephesians 2:4-5)
    • “Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.” (Colossians 3:1)
    • “For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive.” (1 Corinthians 15:22)
    • “Because we know that the one who raised the Lord Jesus from the dead will also raise us with Jesus and present us with you in his presence.” (2 Corinthians 4:14)
    • “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.” (1 Peter 1:3)
  • The Spirit Gives Life
    • The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you—they are full of the Spirit and life.” (John 6:63)
    • “Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit.” (John 3:6)
    • “…the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.” (1 Corinthians 3:6)
    • “And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of his Spirit who lives in you.” (Romans 8:11)
    • Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life” (1 John 5:12).
  • Christ Lives in You
    • For just as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, even so the Son gives life to whom he is pleased to give it.” (John 5:21)
    • “And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever—the Spirit of truth… But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you.” (John 14:16–17)
    • “On that day you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you.” (John 14:20)
    • “Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him.” (John 14:23)
    • “I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.” (John 15:5)
    • “But if Christ is in you, your body is dead because of sin, yet your spirit is alive because of righteousness.” (Romans 8:10)
    • “And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit, who lives in you.” (Romans 8:11)
    • “Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith; test yourselves. Do you not realize that Christ Jesus is in you—unless, of course, you fail the test?” (2 Corinthians 13:5)
    • “I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” (Galatians 2:20)
    • God sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, the Spirit who calls out, ‘Abba, Father.’” (Galatians 4:6)
    • “I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith.” (Ephesians 3:16–17)
    • “To them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.” (Colossians 1:27)

7. Spirit of God Will Never Leave You

  • All Your Sins Have Been Forgiven
    • “When you were dead in your sins… God made you alive with Christ. He forgave us all our sins” (Colossians 2:13-14)
    • “All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation.” (2 Corinthains 5:18-19)
    • “Look, the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world” (John 1:29)
    • “But this man [Jesus], after he had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down at the right hand of God, and by one sacrifice he has made perfect forever those who are being made holy.” (Hebrews 10:14)
    • “In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace.” (Ephesians 1:7)
    • “For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more.” (Hebrews 8:12)
  • The Word of God Confirms It
    • “…God has said, ‘Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.’ (Hebrews 13:5)
    • “I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand.” (John 10:28-29)
    • “And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you forever—the Spirit of truth.” (John 14:16-17)
    • “For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers… will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 8:38-39)
    • “…he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 1:6)
    • “For God’s gifts and his call are irrevocable.” (Romans 11:29)
    • “And you also were included in Christ when you heard the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation. When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance…(Ephesians 1:13-14)
  • Eternal Life is Not Temporal

8. There is No Condemnation for Those in Christ Jesus

  • No Condemnation
    • Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death.” (Romans 8:1-2)
