God uses the Spirit of God to dwell in a believer, making them a new creation. When someone is born again, the Spirit comes to live inside them, bringing life, guidance, and the guarantee of their inheritance in Christ.
Genesis 1:2 – Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.
Psalms 51:10-11 – Create in me a clean heart, O God. Renew a loyal spirit within me. Do not banish me from your presence,
and don’t take your Holy Spirit from me.
Ezekiel 36:26–27 – I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you… And I will put My Spirit in you and move you to follow
Ezekiel 37:5–6 — “I will put breath in you, and you will come to life. Then you will know that I am the Lord.”
John 3:5-6 (NLT) – Jesus replied, “I assure you, no one can enter the Kingdom of God without being born of water and the Spirit. Humans can reproduce only human life, but the Holy Spirit gives birth to spiritual life.
John 4:24 – God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.”
John 6:63 — “The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken are full of the Spirit and life.”
John 14:16-17 – And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever— the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you.
John 14:26 – But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.
John 16:8-9 – When he comes, he will prove the world to be in the wrong about sin and righteousness and judgment: about sin, because people do not believe in me…
John 16:13 – But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come.
John 20:22 — “And with that he breathed on them and said, ‘Receive the Holy Spirit.’”
Acts 1:4-5 – On one occasion, while he was eating with them, he gave them this command: “Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift my Father promised, which you have heard me speak about. For John baptized with[a] water, but in a few days you will be baptized with[b] the Holy Spirit.”
Acts 1: 8 – But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.
Acts 2:1-4 – When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues[a] as the Spirit enabled them.
Romans 5:5 — “God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us.”
Romans 8:2 — “Through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death.”
Romans 8:26 – In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans.
Romans 8:9 – You, however, are not in the realm of the flesh but are in the realm of the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, they do not belong to Christ.
Romans 8:14 – For all who are led by the Spirit of God are children of God.
Romans 8:11 — “…if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit.”
1 Corinthians 2:9-12 However, as it is written: “What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived”[—the things God has prepared for those who love him—these are the things God has revealed to us by his Spirit. The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God. For who knows a person’s thoughts except their own spirit within them? In the same way no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. What we have received is not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may understand what God has freely given us.
1 Corinthians 3:16 – Don’t you know that you yourselves are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in your midst?
1 Corinthians 15:45 — “The first man Adam became a living being; the last Adam, a life-giving Spirit.”
2 Corinthians 1:22 — “He has put his seal on us and given us the Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee.”
2 Corinthians 3:6 — “…the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.”
2 Corinthians 3:17-18 – Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate[a] the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.
2 Corinthians 5:5 – Now the one who has fashioned us for this very purpose is God, who has given us the Spirit as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come.
Galatians 4:6 — “God sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, who calls out, ‘Abba, Father.’”
Galatians 5:15 – So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh
Galatians 5:22-23 – But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.
Galatians 5:25 — “Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.”
Ephesians 1:17 – I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better
Ephesians 1:13–14 — When you believed, you were marked in Christ with the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until we are fully redeemed.
Titus 3:5 – ..he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit
