The New Testament declares that Jesus rose from the dead at least fifty times, using many different phrases—raised from the dead, brought back to life, firstborn from the dead, living forever, no longer subject to death. Scripture does this intentionally.
The resurrection is not a secondary doctrine. It is the central proof that Jesus is the Son of God, that sin was fully dealt with, and that death was decisively defeated. Without the resurrection, there is no gospel, no salvation, and no new life.
God repeats this truth again and again because the Christian life does not begin with forgiveness alone, but with new birth. Romans 8:11 explains why the resurrection is emphasized so strongly:
“If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of his Spirit who lives in you.”
The same Holy Spirit who raised Jesus from the dead now gives the resurrected life and the Spirit of God to those who believe. Salvation is not merely believing that Jesus died—it is receiving the resurrection life of Christ through the Spirit. This is why Scripture continually testifies that Jesus is alive. A dead Savior cannot save, but a risen Christ gives eternal life.
The Bible repeats the resurrection because Christianity is not a message about death, but about life—new life now, and resurrection life forever.
